The Role of Total Quality Management Application in Achieving Competitive Advantage in Yemeni Private Hospitals in the Capital City of Sana'a

Abstract

This study aimed to measure the role of applying Total Quality Management (TQM) with its dimensions (top management commitment, customer focus, employee involvement, and continuous improvement) in achieving competitive advantage in Yemeni private hospitals in the capital city of Sana'a. The study employed a complete census method targeting all leadership personnel (251 individuals) working in these hospitals. The study adopted an analytical descriptive approach, using questionnaires as the primary data collection tool, with 230 valid responses analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The study yielded several key findings, most notably the positive role of TQM implementation in achieving competitive advantage in the surveyed private hospitals, as well as a strong emphasis on TQM application within these institutions, with top management commitment being the most implemented dimension and employee involvement the least. Additionally, there was significant focus on competitive advantage, with the quality dimension being the most achieved and innovation the least. The study recommends giving attention to TQM implementation in private hospitals to deliver exceptional services that meet community needs, along with motivating employees through satisfactory incentives for performance innovation.
